Rob's Story

This is about restraint.

Two spirits, one modifier, and just enough bitters to tie it together. Montenegro brings citrus, herbal bitterness, and a subtle chocolate note, while the bonded Triple Mash adds structure and weight.

Nothing extra, nothing hiding—just a clean, deliberate build.

Ingredients

Scale:
1 bar spoon
Peychaud's bitters
1 oz
Amaro Montenegro
1 oz
Jack Daniel's Triple Mash Bottled-in-Bond
Garnish
Expressed orange peel

Method

1
Add Peychaud's bitters and Montenegro to a mixing glass.
2
Add Jack Daniel's Triple Mash last.
3
Stir with H2O croutons for 30 to 40 rotations.
30–40 rotations
4
Strain into a chilled Nick & Nora or coupe.

Pro Tips

Jack Daniel's Triple Mash (60% rye / 20% Tennessee whiskey / 20% American malt) is essential — the rye spice bridges Montenegro's herbal bitterness.
A simpler whiskey will not create the rye-to-amaro interaction this build relies on.
